Souper Bowl Sunday

Bring your favorite soup and join us.

“Souper Bowl” History. Super Bowl weekend, a time when people come together for football and fun. Why not also unify the nation for a higher good: collecting dollars and canned food for the needy? The Senior High youth of Spring Valley Presbyterian liked the idea so much that they decided to invite other area churches to join the team. Twenty-two Columbia churches participated that first year, in 1990, raising $5,700 to send to area non-profits. Since then, and extraordinary $130 million has been raised for soup kitchens, food banks and other charities in communities across the country. In 2017, $10.2 million in cash and food items was collected. Bethel’s donations go to Oconee Presbyterian Service Fund to help in times of emergency of Oconee residents.
